20 – 22 April, 2020 in St. Petersburg will be held second Scientific-practical Conference "Light in Museum”, which will be devoted to the role and importance of lighting and lighting equipment in the preservation of Museum values in Russia and abroad.
The Conference is organized by the State Hermitage Museum, the Scientific and Technical Council of the Lighting Industry Association NTS «Svetotekhnika», and the Russian Lighting Research Institute named after S.I. Vavilov, with the support of the Russian branch of the International Council of Museums (ICOM) and the Union of Russian museums.
The first conference “Light in Museum”, which was held two years earlier, showed the high relevance of the problems of modern lighting in museums and the interest in this topic of the professional community. Moreover, on April 22, 2018 was signed the memorandum on cooperation in the field of museum lighting between the Scientific, Technical Council of the lighting industry and the museum community.
The 2020 conference will continue to discuss the topics opened by the first conference, as well as summarize intermediate results of the joint work of Russian lighting engineers and museum representatives on the preparation of a modern regulatory framework for the museum lighting environment.
In the framework of the Conference "Light in Museum” the famous Russian and foreign specialists, representatives of the museum community, architects and lighting designers — will meet to discuss topical issues and application of lighting in museums of modern lighting technologies, the influence of light and lighting on museum objects, the use of modern light sources, including LEDs, quality control and safety of lighting equipment in museums, updating industry documents.
Participation in the conference is free, requires prior registration, which will open on the website of the NTS "«Svetotekhnika» in early July 2019.
